"ARE YOU ON THE LIST?"
Katy's List Launches National Effort Benefiting Operation Homefront
Chicago, IL - ARE YOU ON THE LIST? , a national fundraising effort benefiting OPERATION HOMEFRONT, went live today on Katy's List. The altruistic venture, started by Kathleen Frantz, is set to raise several million dollars to be put towards aiding families who have lost a head of household in the military.
Founded by Kathleen Frantz, a classically trained chef with more than twenty years of experience in the culinary world, Katy's List raises funds through the sale of Frantz's lines of "Better for You Foods" consisting of KATY'S My OH Mega™ cookies. Each product contains a card with a code inviting consumers to join Katy's List by entering the code at Katy's List. The site's list tracks and sorts participation according to the codes entered, and by the products purchased by companies.
"According to the Department of Defense, since 9/11 over 8,000 children have lost a parent in the military. I wanted to make it easier for the rest of the country to help these families," says Frantz. "Even the smallest thing can make a big difference collectively. Supporters of Katy's List get a tasty "Better for You Snack" and the opportunity to help families with children left behind of soldiers who were killed or disabled while serving our country. I think often families in this situation can be overlooked and I want to change that."
In the fall of 2008 Frantz read an article about two families that were 'left behind' after military deaths in their families. Frantz thought it was unimaginable to first lose a spouse in the military, then have to pick up the pieces. This inspired her to partner with Operation Homefront, an organization with a strong commitment to providing for troops in military and their families.
"Kathleen has a huge heart and we appreciate her hard work and dedication," says Angela Leahy, Director of Major Gifts at Operation Homefront. "Every bit helps of course, but we're hoping Katy's List raises awareness and funds for our organization." Truly a guilt free contribution, the products that Katy's My OH Mega snacks are packed with 60 milligrams of Omega 3, 10 grams of protein, 4 grams of fiber and are made with 100% whole grain. Fifty percent of the profits will be donated directly to Operation Homefront's new Bridging Program, which helps families that are having problems making ends meet. My OH Mega snacks are available in four flavors: chocolate peanut butter, chocolate hazelnut, country fruit and cashew, and chocolate chunk. MY OH Mega snacks can be ordered through Katy's List; a dozen snacks are $27 and come with a free, limited edition t-shirt. The t-shirt is also for sale by itself on Katy's List, as is a tote bag.
